Obituary for
Gurcie Vidrine (Stelly)
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas for Gurcie Stelly Vidrine, 75, who passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 9:40 a.m. at Opelousas General Hospital in Opelousas.
Fr. Gregory Simien, Pastor of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church will be officiating for the services. She will be laid to rest next to her husband and two sons in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, La.
The family has requested the visitation to be held on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A Rosary will be recited Sunday, at 7 in the evening in the Funeral Home Chapel in Church Point. Visitation will resume on Monday at 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
Survivors include one daughter, Sue Vidrine of Lafayette; one grandson, Derek Stanford of Lafayette; three brothers, Jim and wife, Virginia Stelly of Opelousas, Louis and wife, Geraldine Stelly of Opelousas and Robert Stelly of Texas City, TX.; one sister, Eva and husband, Ronald Arnaud of Marrero, La.
Ms. Gurcie was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph L. Vidrine, Jr.; two sons, Herman and Harold Vidrine; her parents, Dona Dieu and Ida Stelly; three brothers, Percy Stelly, Jessie “Buck” Stelly and Dennis Stelly; two sisters, Joyce Taylor and Lillian Stelly.
