Obituary for
Jimmy Joseph Sonnier
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 24, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley for Jimmy J. Sonnier, 51, who passed away on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 10:19 A.M. at his home in Crowley.
Fr. Gary Schexnayder, Pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Broussard will be officiating for the service. Burial will be in the Abshire Cemetery in Rural Kaplan.
The family has requested the visitation to be held on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. in the Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley. A Rosary will be recited on Sunday at 7 o’clock in the evening. Visitation will resume on Monday, October 24, 2016 at 8:00 A.M. until time of services.
Survivors include three brothers, Nelson and wife, Mamie Sonnier of Crowley, Vernice and wife, Debbie Sonnier of Springs, TX, Michael and wife, Missy Sonnier of Egan; one sister, Kathleen and husband, Alvin Thibodeaux of Egan; seven nieces and nephews; eight great nieces and nephews.
Jimmy enjoyed helping at Christmas time selling Christmas Trees with Louie and Kyle Nebo on Parkerson. He loved spending time with family and playing bingo.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Obray and Eula Sonnier; his maternal grandparents, Clarence and Olivia Guidry Abshire; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. August Sonnier.
