Mary Audrey Dubose (Spell)
Mansfield, TX – Mary Audrey Dubose, 88, left this earth on August 17, 2017 in her home in Mansfield, Texas, where she was surrounded by her family.
She fought a courageous battle with many health challenges.
She was born on September 15, 1928, in Indian Bayou, Louisiana. She graduated from Indian Bayou High School in 1945. She was united in marriage to Don L. Dubose on October 25, 1946.
Mary and Don were longtime residents of Bridge City, Texas. Mary was employed at Bridge City Bank and The Orange Leader.They were members of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Bridge City, TX. In 1995, Don and Mary moved to Dripping Springs, Texas, where they joined the Dripping Springs Methodist Church. Mary was an active member of The United Methodist Women. She also volunteered much time at the Chamber of Commerce and Hill Country Care Center.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Don Dubose, with whom she shared 59 years of marriage. She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Michael and Polly Dubose; their children, Erik, Erin and Ethan, all of Vidor, Texas.; her daughter and son in law, Carla and David Quijano of Wimberley, Texas; their children, Nicholas of Austin and Audrey Powell of Euless, her daughter, Mary Kay Deck and her children, Michelle Newsom of Mansfield, TX, Melissa Deck of Acton, MA, and Ryan Deck of Boston, MA; and thirteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.
Family and friends are welcome for visitation and viewing services at Duhon Funeral Home- Crowley, 1529 Crowley-Rayne Highway, Crowley, LA 70526 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Saturday, August 19, 2017 and will resume at 11:00 am on Sunday, August 20, 2017 until just prior to the time of services. Church services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday at the Indian Bayou Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Maxwell officiating. Interment will follow the church service and will be in Indian Bayou Methodist Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Erik Dubose, Ethan Dubose, Nicholas Quijano, Ryan Deck, Brent Newsom and Adam McDermott. Honorary pallbearers are, Mike Dubose, David Quijano, Lou Dubose, John Dubose, Doug Dubose and Horence Foremen.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Hospice of Cleburne, American Civil Liberties Union, Southern Poverty Law Center or Indian Bayou Methodist Church.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Community Hospice, Cleburne,Renee Jones, her trusted companion, and the many family, friends and caregivers for their help and support during Mary’s illness.
