Crowley- A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Amae Gaspard, 83, at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Crowley, LA with Rev. Jason Vidrine as Celebrant. Visitation will begin at the Duhon Funeral Home-Crowley Chapel on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 9:00 AM, with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00PM, until 9:00 PM and will resume on Wednesday at 8:00 AM until just prior to the service time. Interment will follow the church service and will be in Abshire Cemetery in rural Kaplan, LA. Ms. Gaspard passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2017.
Amae enjoyed making jambalaya, fruit rolls and fudge at Christmas for her family; Sunday bouree games with her children, playing yahtzee, her marble game and skip-bo and could never spend enough time with her children and did without so they could have.
Ms. Gaspard is survived by her children, Dolores Figard, Katherine “Kat” Ashworth, Michael “Mike”Trahan and his wife, Suzette, Dewanna “Chick” Schexnayder and Rickey Trahan and his wife, Emily; grandchildren, Kelly Hensgens, Rachel Figard, Melissa “Missy” Guidry, Carlos “Junior” Muniz, Kenneth “Tiger” Mire, Jason Mire, Thad Mire, Crystal “Bizzy” Trahan, Michael “Mikey” Trahan, Bo Trahan, John Trahan, Adrian Stafford, Angelle Stafford, Heather Schexnayder, Adam Schexnayder and Jaclin “Jackie” Trahan; forty one great-grandchildren; four great-great grandsons.
She was preceded in death by the father of her children, Maeus John Trahan; lifelong companion, William “Pop” Duhon; parents, Etienne Gaspard and Olivia Harrington Gaspard; brother’s, Ernest Gaspard, Antoine Gaspard, Ivan Gaspard and Andrus “Shoeneg” Gaspard; sisters, Ella Monceaux, Leona Touchet, Angelle “Doc” Simon and Elizabeth Gaspard; daughter, Jacqueline “Jackie” Stafford; great-grandson, Dylan Trahan; son-in-law’s, Don “Butch” Figard and Kenneth “Kenny” Mire, Sr.
Pallbearers will be Tiger Mire, Michael “Mikey” Trahan, Adrian Stafford, Adam Schexnayder, Rickey Trahan and Nathan Guidry. Honorary pallbearer will be Kade Figard.
Ms. Gaspard’s family would like to thank all of those who provided for her care. They include Dr. Kerri Kilgore, the staff at Southwind Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and the staff of Lamm Family Care Hospice.
