A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Church Point for Maudry Rose Carrier-Handy, 82, who passed away on Friday, September 29, 2017, at 4:48 A.M. at Acadia St. Landry Hospital in Church Point.
Rev. Emmanuel Awe, SSJ, Pastor of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Church Point will be officiating for the services. Burial will be in Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church New Cemetery in Church Point.
The family has requested the visitation to be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 8:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. in the Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Church Point. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Church Point.
Survivors include four daughters, Marlene Carrier of Denver, CO., Carolyn Carrier and Wilbert Guillory of Church Point, Jamie and husband, Edwin Sifferlin of Aurora, Co., and Gwendolyn Carrier of Denver, CO.; two brothers, John Larry and wife, Tracy Carrier of New Orleans, Matthew Clay Carrier and Carlisa Citizen of Church Point; three sisters, Gladys Carrier of Church Point and Mary and husband, Wallace Duplechain of Church Point, Margaret LaDay of Church Point; a brother-in-law, Lloyd Duplechain of Church Point; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Ms. Maudry was preceded in death by her husband, Ashton Peter Handy, her first husband, Freddie Carrier; two daughters, Lorraine Carrier and SGM Elizabeth Ann Carrier Walton; one son, Alvin J. Carrier; her parents, Elton, Sr. and Clementine G. Batiste; two sisters, Enola Johnson and Lucy Duplechain; three brothers, Elton Batiste, Jr., John Lee Batiste and Henry Brooks, Jr.; one grandson, Jorden Sifferlin.
