Peggy Firmin Ruddock Tordoff
Violet was one of the most conscientious and hard-working people I've ever known. Virginia Ruddock treasured Violet as one of her most faithful employees, as well as a family friend. When the new bakery was built on the Court Circle, Virginia insisted that the design include a room specifically designed for cake decorating, an area that had not been available in the old bakery. Virginia proudly called it "Violet's Room." And so it was! Customers in the front shop were able to see cake decorating in progress, with Violet using her magic to create the masterpieces which Ruddock's Bakery was known for. Violet worked tirelessly -- on her feet for hours each day -- and turned out some beautifully designed masterpieces. My wedding cake was almost as tall as I am! And every time a customer ordered petit fours, Violet created a small separate batch for me. She was part of the extended Ruddock family, beloved by Lawrence, Eddie, and Virginia during their lifetimes and by Rudy, Alicia, and me throughout her own life. Surely, there is a sweet spot in heaven devoted to this special lady, who gave so much of herself to the Ruddock family and the town of Crowley, along with her own extensive family. May God grant her peace, rest, and an eternal reward.
