Obituary for Iris Marie Venable (Burleigh)

Iris Marie Venable 75, the former Iris Marie Burleigh, passed peacefully to Life Eternal on Monday, January 8, 2018 at 6:28 P.M. at her home surrounded by loved ones.
Catholic funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Duhon Funeral Home in Rayne; on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 1:30 P.M. Deacon Cliff Tanner from St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church will be officiating for the services. The family has requested the visitation to be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 9:30 A.M. until time of services all in the Funeral Home Chapel in Rayne. A Rosary will be recited on Friday at 1 o’clock in the afternoon in the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church Cemetery in Scott.
Mrs Venable was a native of Sunset and a resident of Scott.

Survivors include her three sons, Kenneth Venable of Scott, Steven Venable of Scott, and Chad Venable and his wife Amy of Arkansas, one granddaughter, Nicole Venable of Scott, and one grandson, Brandon Venable of Arkansas; four sisters, Anna Bell Burleigh and Marjorie Theresa Burleigh of Lafayette, Hilda Marie LaSalle of Lafayette, and Bertha Ann Meche of Vatican; two brothers, Frank J. Burleigh of Lafayette, and Joseph A. Burleigh of Alexandria and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ms. Venable was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Azelie Prejean Burleigh.

Pallbearers include Brandon Venable, Donald LaSalle, Raymond LaSalle, Brent Constantine, Frank Burleigh, Joseph Burleigh; and honorary pallbearers, Chris McNabb, and Jordan Keener.

Iris was a kind, caring, humble soul, a loving daughter, sister, wife and mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Her life centered on love of God and family.
The family wishes to thank St. Joseph Hospice, and especially Nsg. Assistant, Ms. Geneva for her personal loving care of their mother.
