Obituary for Roger Dale James Istre
Morse- A Liturgy of the Word Service will be celebrated for Roger Dale James Istre, 72, at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 6, 2020 in the Duhon Funeral Home-Crowley Chapel with Deacon Denis LaCroix officiating. Visitation will be held in the Duhon Funeral Home- Crowley Chapel on Monday from 9:00 AM until just prior to the time of service. A Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held in the chapel at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow the chapel service and will be in Istre Cemetery in Mermentau Cove, LA. Mr. Istre passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette, LA.
Roger enjoyed “the simple Cajun life” and was a musician; enjoyed singing, playing guitar and listening to Cajun Music on KBON Radio. He was well known for his cooking especially for “big crowds”; what brought him the most happiness was spending time with his children, grand children, great- grandchildren as well as visits with his close friends.
Mr. Istre is survived by his children, Tammy Istre of Breaux Bridge, LA, Billy Istre of Breaux Bridge, LA, Greta Vincent and her husband, Jeffery of Jennings, LA, Amy Comb and her husband, Carey of Breaux Bridge, LA , Tonia Blanchard and her husband, Tony of Breaux Bridge, LA, Nicole Noel of Arnaudville, LA , Lane Istre of DeRidder, LA and Roger Dale“D. J.” Istre, Jr. of Sulphur, LA; nineteen grandchildren, Allison, Braylon, Brylon, Niagee, Darren, Jackie, Janie, Lil Billy, Josey, Caeli, Ethan, Ayden, Greyson, Dane, Chance, Grant, Nick, Jaida and Lil Jeff; six great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Conner of Crowley, LA; godson, Tony Clark and one,niece, Lisa Minnex.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hildre Istre and Nita Mae Istre.
Pallbearers will be Darren Istre, Tony Clark, Braylon Savoie, Brylon Savoie, D.J. Istre and Lane Istre. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Istre and Tony Blanchard.
