Church Point-Memorial Services will be held for John “Ferdie” Venable, 56, at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 25, 2018 in the Duhon Funeral Home-Church Point Chapel with Msgr. Jeff DeBlanc as officiant. Visitation will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM and will resume on Thursday at 8:00 AM until just prior to the service time. Interment will be at a later date.
Mr. Venable is survived by his girls, Krisha and Alyssa Matte of Opelousas, LA; daughter, Trista Wilson and her husband, Daniel of Church Point, LA; mother, Sandra Venable and his stepfather, Hubert Higginbotham of Opelousas, LA; grandchildren, Jayden and Jayla Seria and “Ella” on the way; siblings, Keith Venable and his wife, Cathy of Church Point, LA, Toby Venable and his wife, Deverelle of Opelousas, LA, Romney Venable of Sunset, LA and Paul HIgginbotham; his companion, Sonya Davis of Opelousas, LA; mother of his girls, Krista Matte; nieces and nephews, George Venable, Erica Venable, Shelly David, Courtney Jeansonne, T. J. Venable, Colby Dupre, Ann-Elyse Venable as well as a host of great-nieces, great nephews, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Allen Venable; brother, Kurt Venable; paternal grandparents, Freddie and Cecile Venable; maternal grandparents, Lesley and Lilburn Cormier.
