Obituary for Geraldine Richard Duplechin
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at 11:00, A.M. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Church Point for Geraldine Richard Duplechin, 74, who passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at 6:00 P.M. surrounded by family in Lafayette.
Pastor David DeViller will be officiating for the services. Burial will be held in St. Edward Catholic Church Cemetery in Richard.
The family has requested the visitation to be held on Friday, January 4, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. in the Funeral Home Chapel in Church Point. There also be will be a small memorial service Friday night in the Chapel at 7:00 PM
Visitation will resume on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at 8:00 A.M. until time of services. After the funeral service there will be a graveside committal service at the St Edward Catholic Church Cemetery.
Gerry was born in the cotton fields of Richard, Louisiana, to Ravis Richard, Sr. and Eurella Richard. At a young age and as the eldest of eight, she worked tirelessly to help her mother and siblings fill the void left by the sudden passing of her father. She graduated from Church Point High School. She was a hard working, loving, and compassionate woman who taught her children and grandchildren to be the very best that they can be. Gerry has been an inspiration to many and, like an angel, touched the hearts of anyone fortunate enough to meet her. She also loved her mother, sisters, brothers, in-laws and the rest of her family and friends unconditionally. But most importantly, she loved Jesus, brought many to know Him, and patiently waited for the day to be with her heavenly Father.
Survivors include her children whom she shared with Ray Duplechin of Swords, LA. She left a son Phillip Duplechin and wife Karen of Lafayette, LA; daughter Lisa Duplechin Bourg and partner Gregory Miller of Jennings, LA; son Jason Duplechin and wife Ashley of Lafayette, LA;
grandson Jeremiah Carriere and partner Danielle Coles of Lafayette, LA; grandson Samuel Carrier and wife Erika of Norco, LA; granddaughter Abigail Hugger and partner Bennett Schiro of Metairie, LA; granddaughter Ana Claire Bourg; grandchildren Jacob Duplechin, Austin Duplechin, and Evangeline Duplechin; step-grandchildren Ian Urrea and Katalin Urrea; great-grandchildren Rawlin Carriere and Jamison Carriere; step-great-grandchildren Shayson Trahan, Carter Trahan, and Marielle Bankston; mother Eurella Richard Savoy of Prairie Rhonde, LA; brothers Harry Richard, Donald Richard, Ravis Richard, Jr., and Thad Richard; and sisters Faye Venable and Cindy Arceneaux.
She was preceded in death by her father Ravis Richard, Sr.; step-father Joe Savoy; and brother Tony Richard.
