Obituary for Bernice Guidry (Fontenot)
Rayne- A Liturgy of the Word Service will be celebrated for Bernice Fontenot Guidry, 93, at 1:30 PM in the Duhon Funeral Home-Rayne Chapel with Deacon Denis LaCroix as Celebrant. Visitation in the funeral home chapel will begin at 8:30 AM until service time. A Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 1:00 PM in the Chapel. Interment will follow the chapel service and will be in St Joseph Catholic Cemetery “New” in Rayne, LA. Mrs. Guidry passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2019 in Rayne, LA.
Mrs. Guidry is survived by her children, Robert “Buddy and Bob” Guidry and his wife, Anna of Lafayette, LA , Mike Guidry and his wife, Karen of Rayne, LA, Sue Faul and her husband, Randy “Boze” of Sunset, LA; ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; two sisters, Joyce Fontenot of Jennings, LA and Anna Rhuland of Jennings, LA.
She was preceded in death by husband, Julian “Bubby and Bob” Guidry; parents, Henri Fontenot and Henriette Credeur Fontenot; five sisters, Ella Henry, Delia Fontenot, Grace Clement, Jean Valenti and Nita Schwartz; five brothers, Clyde Fontenot, Pierre Fontenot, Andrus Fontenot, Abie Fontenot, and Dalton Fontenot.
Pallbearers will be Julian “Jude” Guidry, Randy “Boze” Faul, Chris Guidry, Mike Guidry, Kacey Labbe and Derek Dautreuil. Honorary pallbearers will be Liam Guidry and Joe Valenti.
Mrs. Guidry’s family would like to express special thanks to Hope Guidry, Robin Guidry, Adrienne Dautreuil, Bernice’s new “best friend”, Chesley Citizen as well as the staff and doctors of Hospice of Acadiana.
