Obituary for Kermit Joseph Comeaux

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Assumption Catholic Church in Mire for Kermit J. Comeaux, 77, who passed away on Monday, March 11, 2019 at 2:15 P.M. at Acadia St. Landry Guest Home in Church Point.
Fr. Michael Arnaud, Pastor of Assumption Catholic Church in Mire will be officiating for the services. Burial will be held in the Assumption Catholic Church Cemetery in Mire.
The family has requested the visitation to be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Church Point. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday at 7 o’clock in the evening in the Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will resume on Thursday at 8:00 A.M. until time of services.
Survivors include his wife of fifty seven years, Ruby Hebert Comeaux of Church Point; three daughters, Margaret Morvant and her companion, Glenn Capdepon of Newellton, LA, Tina Richard and her companion, Steven Hebert of Rayne, Deanna and husband, Leslie Wells of Opelousas; two sons, Patrick Comeaux of Church Point, Jessie and wife, Jeanne Comeaux of Scott; one brother, Aaron and wife, Linda Comeaux of Mire; two sisters, Rita Romero of Rayne and Margie Borill of Midland; fifteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and seven step grandchildren.
Mr. Comeaux was preceded in death by his parents, Jules and Lula Alleman Comeaux; one sister, Sadie Guidry; three brothers, J.C., Belton and Eugene Comeaux.
Pallbearers for the services will be Patrick Comeaux, Robin Comeaux, Michael Gobert, Christopher Racca, Kermit Gobert and Kelvin Comeaux. Honorary Pallbearers will be Christopher Gobert, Leslie Wells and Aaron Comeaux.
Mr. Comeaux was a hard worker with great work ethic. He was employed as a carpenter for forty years. For sixteen years he worked as the maintenance worker at St. Edmonds Catholic Church in Lafayette. He enjoyed western movies, French music, speaking in French and working in the yard. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Grace Hospice and Acadia St. Landry Guest Home.
