Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 17, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Rayne for James “Jimmy” Romero, 72, who passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at 5:50 P.M. at his home in Duson.
Deacon Dennis Lacroix from St. Joseph Catholic Church will be officiating for the services. Burial will be held in the St. Joseph Catholic Church New Cemetery in Rayne.
The family has requested the visitation to be held on Thursday, May 16, at 2:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. in the Funeral Home Chapel. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday at 6 o’clock in the evening in the Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will resume on Friday at 8:00 A.M. until time of services.
Mr. Romero is survived by his children, Debbie R. Melancon and her husband, Quentin of Rayne, LA, Otis J. Romero and his wife, Connie of Rayne, LA, Kenneth J. Romero and wife, Carolyn “Pepe” of Duson, LA, Bradley J. Romero and his companion, Tracey of Rayne, LA, Conrad J. Romero and his companion, Charlene of Duson, LA; thirteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Leger of Lake Charles and Elizabeth Deaville of Rayne; step sister, Betty Jean Johnson of Lake Charles.
He was preceded in death by his wife Bertha Romero; his parents, Otis and Marie Breaux Romero; brothers, Wilfred J. Romero, and Elias Romero; sisters, Shirley Dupuis, Winnie Prejean, and Bernice Richard.
Pallbearers will be Josh Pellissier, Cody Robinson, Barrit Romero, Trey Romero, Cory Romero and Branden Romero. Honorary pallbearer will be Quentin Melancon and Mason Douga.
