Obituary for Wayne Dale Matte
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. in the St. John Catholic Church Chapel in Lewisburg for Wayne “Dale” Matte, 61, who passed away on Friday, May 31, 2019, at 10:05 P.M. at Opelousas General Hospital in Opelousas.
Msgr. Jeff DeBlanc, Pastor of St. John Catholic Church Chapel in Lewisburg will be officiating for the services. Burial will be in the St. John Catholic Church Chapel Cemetery.
The family has requested the visitation to be held on Monday, June 3, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. in the Duhon Funeral Chapel in Church Point. A Rosary will be recited on Monday at 7 o’clock in the evening in the Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will resume on Tuesday at 8:00 A.M. until time of services.
Survivors include his wife, Bridget R. Matte of Port Barre; one step daughter, Toni and husband, Jonathan DeVillier of Opelousas; five grandchildren, Chance, J.J., Spencer, Emily and Zachary DeVillier all of Opelousas; two brothers, Jay Matte and companion, Lavinia Latiolais of Opelousas, Nolan and wife, Frances Matte of Rayne; five sisters, Geneva and husband, Larry Bearb of Lafayette, Patricia and husband, Ricky Royer of Lawrenceville, GA, Madeline and husband, Daniel Boone of Scott, Elaine Bernard and companion, Gary Hardy of Opelousas, Odelia and husband, Ricky Leger of Sunset; two brother-in-laws, Gerard Richard of Alexandria and Joseph R. Richard, II of Eunice; one sister-in-law, Melissa Fontenot of Georgia.
Mr. Matte was preceded in death by his daughter, Erica Marie Matte; his parents, Armogene and Bridgette Ameline B. Matte; his father-in-law, Joseph R. Richard.
