The family has requested the visitation be held on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. until time of services at the Funeral Home Chapel in Rayne.

Ron was a character that never met a person he didn’t know. He radiated a joy for life and living that he passed down to each of his children. He enjoyed working with his hands that was evident through his hobbies of woodworking, fishing, and playing the guitar. When he wasn’t busy entertaining friends and family, he made a living working as a consultant in the oilfield for over 40 years and working a few business ventures - Ron’s Car Care and Frog Capital Speedway. Ron also enjoyed weekends spent watching his favorite sports teams – UL’s Ragin’ Cajuns and the Saints, and, of course, NASCAR races. Every minute spent with Ron was truly an unforgettable experience. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Pallbearers for the service will be Kevin Stogner, Stephen Yergeau, Matthew Case, Michael Thibodeaux, Dan Raggette and Ted Brown.
Mr. Lavern was preceded in death by his parents, John and Evelyn H. Lavern and one nephew, Jeffery Leger.
The Lavern family would like to thank the ICU at University Hospital & Clinics for their exceptional care and devotion.
