Obituary for Elridge Joseph "Shawee" Benoit
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at 1:30 P. M. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Rayne for Elridge “Shawee” Benoit, 80, who passed away at his home in Judice on Saturday, September 07, 2019 at 5:30 A.M.
Br. Danny Hebert, Assistant Pastor of Riverside Church of Christ in Lafayette will be officiating for the services. Burial will be held in St. Basil Catholic Church Cemetery in Judice.
The family has requested the visitation to be held on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at 9:00 A.M. until time of services in the Funeral Home Chapel. A Rosary will be recited on Sunday at 10:00 A.M. in the Funeral Home Chapel.
Survivors include one daughter, Sandra “Sis” Benoit of Mire; one son, E.J. Benoit of Carencro; three sisters, Ruth Benoit of Rayne, Betty Hebert of Carencro and Edolia Credeur of Scott; two step sisters, Delores Babineaux of Lafayette and Dorothy Thibodeaux of Scott; two grandchildren, Kerry and wife, Amber Benoit of Judice, Kim Benoit of Youngsville; five great-grandchildren, Jordan Forbes, Adam Benoit, Skylar Prejean, Alexis Benoit and Hailee Castete.
Mr. Benoit was preceded in death by his wife, Elrita Gary Benoit; one son, Curt James Benoit; his parents, Delano Benoit and Francis Thibodaux Breaux; two brothers, Lloyd Phillip Benoit and Alphonse Benoit; two sisters, Helen Benoit and Barbara Forestier.
Pallbearers for the service will be Kerry Benoit, Vernell Cormier, Neil Hebert, Gerald Benoit, Ricky Comeaux and Stoney Castille. Honorary Pallbearers will be his son, E.J. Benoit, and great-grandchildren, Adam Benoit and Jordan Forbes.
The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to Hospice of Acadiana for their special care and compassion during his time of need, especially his nurse Jamie.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested to please make donations to Hospice of Acadiana and or Riverside Church of Christ.
