Church Point- A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Betty Jean Batiste, 71, on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Church Point, LA with Rev. Emmanuel Awe as Celebrant. Visitation will begin at church at 8:00 A M until 10:45 A M, with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 10:15 AM. Interment will follow the Mass and will be in Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Cemetery New in Church Point, LA. Ms. Batiste passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at Acadia St. Landry Guest Home in Church Point, LA.
Betty was united in marriage to Joseph Lee Batiste, Sr. on August 10, 1968. Through their union they were blessed with three beautiful children, Dr. Monica Lynn Batiste, Joseph Lee Batiste, Jr. and Timothy James Batiste; she is also survived by her grandchildren, Jahmiahron Lazaro, Chaznii Batiste, Jade Boudreaux, Jordon Batiste, Joseph Lee Batiste, III, Javian Matthew Batiste, Paige Briscoe and Deja Boudreaux; sisters, Theresa Chachere of Church Point, LA and Elizabeth Bedford and her husband, Robert of Houston, TX, Martha Citizen of Church Point, LA; Carla Batiste of Rayne, LA; Tanya Batiste of Gonzales, LA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Linton Rogers and Myrthle Harrison Rogers; Joseph Lee Batiste, Sr; maternal grandparents, Pierre Harrison and Elizabeth Harrison; brothers, Joseph “Kip” Harrison, Jimmy Rogers and Albert “Johnny” Jones.
