Obituary for Destry Joseph Goodwin

Church Point- A Communion Service will be celebrated for Destry J. Goodwin, 54, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at St. Edmund Catholic Church in Branch, LA with Deacon Byrne Winn officiating. Visitation will begin in the Duhon Funeral Home-Church Point Chapel on Saturday at 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM, with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow the Mass and will be St. Edmund Catholic Cemetery in Branch, LA. Mr. Goodwin passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at his residence in Church Point, LA.
Destry Goodwin was born June 2, 1965 to Eric and Georgia Goodwin in Branch, LA. Raised as the baby boy of twelve children, Destry was number 11. He was a parishioner of St. Edmund Church where he made his First Communion and Confirmation into the Catholic Church. A lifelong citizen of Branch, LA Destry worked and formed his own business called, Brother’s Car Wash. He devoted his time working his business and serving his customers. Destry did this until he fell ill in the early spring of 2019; where he resided at his home in Church Point, LA. He was truly blessed.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixteen years, Andrea Monette Landry Goodwin of Church Point, LA; three children, Anna M. Landry, Destron L. Goodwin and Shaquille Landor; three grandchildren, Kandria Landry, Jakaelon Landry and Anaya Landry; four godchildren, Melanie Blanco , Tina Mitchell, Georgeanna Guillory and Matthew Goodwin; five sisters, Joyce (Martin Big G) Guillory, of Branch, LA. Viola (Arthur Bear) Monroe of Carencro, LA, Loretta Guidry of Branch, LA, Jeanette (Michael James) Henry of Lafayette, LA, Penny (Ray) Francis of Lafayette, LA; one brother, Jammie (Marie) Goodwin of Jennings, LA; also many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Destry was preceded in death by his parents, Eric and Georgia Goodwin; four brothers, Eric “To-To” Goodwin, Donald Ray “Rooster” (Eva Mae) Goodwin, Darrell “Hoss” Goodwin, Bobbie “Blackie” Goodwin ; one sister, Laura Ann “GG” Goodwin; three nephews, Abraham Goodwin, Donald Goodwin, Jr. and Martin “Lil G” Guillory.
Pallbearers will be Kason Citizen, Lawrence “T-Bay” Goodwin, Destron Goodwin, Gerjuan Landry, Reginald Robins, Troy Goodwin, Arthur Monroe and Shaquille Landor. Honorary pallbearers will be Jammie Goodwin, Michael Citizen, Ken Wade, Timothy Guillory, Jr., Octavio “Tony” Blanco and Reginald Landry.
