Obituary for Nelson "Can Man" Credeur Sr.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at 2:30 P. M. at Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Rayne for Nelson “ Can Man” Credeur, Sr., 95, who passed away on Friday, February 7, 2020 at the University Health Center in Lafayette at 7:20 P.M. surrounded by his family.
Deacon Dennis LaCroix, from St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne will be officiating for the services. Burial will be held in the St. Theresa Catholic Church Cemetery in Duson.
The family has requested the visitation to be held on Monday, February 10, 2020 at 9:30 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Rayne. A Rosary will be recited on Monday at 6:30 in the evening in the Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will resume on Tuesday at 8:00 A.M. until time of services.
Survivors include two daughters, Elvina Hollier and Barbara Dearman both of Duson; two sons, Nelson Credeur, Jr. of Duson, and James Alleman of Scott; one step daughter, Earline Alleman of Duson; one sister-in-law, Helen Bourque Credeur of Lafayette; nineteen grandchildren, fifty one great-grandchildren and twenty five great-great-grandchildren; and three nieces.
Mr. Credeur served our Country in the United States Army during the World War II, he was also awarded the Purple Heart Medal.
Pallbearers for the services will be Todd Hollier, Kelly Hollier, Tommy Credeur, Joe Credeur, Glenn Dickinson and Aaron Dodge. Honorary Pallbearers will be Harold Royer, Rufus Royer, Jr., Dobie Royer, Christopher Royer, Rodney LaFleur, Russell Gaudet, Bobby Miller and Larry Isadore.
Mr. Credeur was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Alleman Credeur; one son, Dale Credeur, two step daughters, Betty Pourcio and Dorothy Royer; one step granddaughter, Tammy Gaudet; one step great-great-granddaughter, Bridget Gaudet; his parents, Alfred and Elvina G. Credeur; two brothers, Raoul and Paul Credeur; one sister, Nita Drake.
