Obituary for Charlene Marie Melancon
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2020 at the Duhon Funeral home Chapel of Rayne, La for Charlene Marie Melancon, 66, who died at 11:35 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2020 in Lafayette General Hospital.
Pastor Brenda Willis Gomez and Pastor Howard Varnado of the Christian Center Church of Lafayette, LA will officiate the Funeral Service. Burial will follow in the St. John Berchman Cemetery in Cankton, LA
If you walked into a place as a stranger to Charlene you would definitely leave with a new friend. She lived and loved to the fullest. She was over the top. Made you laugh when you were down, told you things you didn’t want to hear at times (No Filter), first one to call and sing Happy Birthday on your special day (at midnight). She was 100% always and loved whole heartedly. If you knew her you couldn’t help but love her the same. She had so much strive for life to watch her kids and grandkids grow. She could be a little stubborn and strong willed at times about things but it was only meant because she loved us. God has really gained a strong angel. RIP Charlene until we meet again. “In her words instead of saying goodbye. LATER!”
She is survived by her fiancé’ Carl Lavergne of Lafayette, LA; two sons Chad Savoie and wife Angel of Cankton, LA and Glenn Roger of Cankton, LA; two step-sons Carl Lavergne, Jr. and Chrystal of Youngsville, LA and Neil and Nicole Lavergne of Scott, LA; a daughter-in-law Brooke Benoit of Cankton, LA; eleven grandchildren Jayda Savoie, Gage Savoie, Jaycee Roger, Judsyn Roger, Zachary, Chasity, Kimberly, Anthony, Julia, Samantha, and Maci Lavergne; a brother Andrew and Yvette Breaux of Scott, LA.; a brother-in-law Terry Richard of Church Point, LA and six step-siblings Dot Barreaux, Doris Richard, Terry Breaux, Lorena Breaux, Keith Breaux and Tina Duhon.
She was preceded in death by her parents Virgie Gary and Robert Himel; two brothers Freddie Melancon and Robert Dale Himel and a sister Mary Ann Richard.
