Obituary for Tim Martin Valair

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 4, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Church Point for Tim M. Valair, 76, who passed away at his home in Church Point surrounded by family on Friday, June 26, 2020 at 8:00 P.M.
Rev. Emmanuel Awe, SSJ, will be officiating for the services. Burial will be held in the Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church Old Cemetery in Church Point.
The family has requested the visitation to be held on Saturday, July 4, 2020 at 8:00 A.M. until time of services in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Church Point.
Tim served his country by enlisting in the United States Army and served for over 20 years. Tim retired with the rank of Sgt. 1st Class, serving in Vietnam and wearing many hats from construction, Engineering Explosives Specialist to leading Platoons. His favorite was being a part of the 82nd Airborne, where he loved jumping from planes.
Upon retirement from the military, Tim worked as an Auxiliary Police Officer before being hired full time with the Church Point Police Department and serving his community for fifteen plus years.
Tim loved spending time with family and friends telling stories of the different adventures he encountered in his life over the years while in the military and working on the police force. He loved spending time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren from going to get ice cream, egg hunts and family gatherings.
Tim leaves to cherish his memory with his wife of forty nine years, Theresa Citizen Valair of Church Point; five step daughters, Barbara Coleman, Gwendolyn Meche; and Roseanna Thomas all of Church Point, Mary L. Citizen of Lafayette and Rebecca and husband, Will of Orlando, FL; two step sons, Milton Citizen of Church Point and E. John “Pee Wee” and wife, Nikita Citizen of Douglasville, GA; sixteen grandchildren, thirty two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Mae (George) Guillory of Iota, Jacqueline Valair of Tucson, AZ, and Veronica Bolden of Houston; two brothers, Van Valair and Felton Valair both of Iota.
Mr. Valair was preceded in death by one son, Hayward Citizen; one granddaughter, Symeka Scott; his parents, Thomas and Marie Citizen Valair; sisters, Janell A. Valair, Jerryline Valair and June Valair; and brothers, Edward Henry Valair, Hilton Valair and Murphy Valair.
