Obituary for Alvin Joseph "Pop" Minix Sr.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2020, at 11:00 A.M., at Starlight Baptist Church in Rayne for Alvin J. "Pop" Minix, Sr., 77, who passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at 8:09 A.M.at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette.
Rev. Nathan Stevens, Pastor of Starlight Baptist Church will be officiating for the services. Burial will be held in West Crowley Cemetery in Crowley.
The family has requested the visitation to be held on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 8:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. all at Starlight Baptist Church in Rayne.
Survivors include his wife, fifty seven years, Agnes H. Minix of Rayne; two daughters, Curtrese Minix and husband, Neil Charles of Rayne, Erica Jolivette of Rayne; four sons, Alvin Minix, Jr. and wife, Gwendolyn Minix of Lafayette, Gregory Minix, Sr. and wife, Karen Minix of Rayne; Jules, Jr. and wife, Lakeisha Milstead, of Bryan, TX, Reginald and wife, Kasha Milstead, Sr. of Scott; two sons that he raised as his own, Michael and wife, Carlotta Eaglin of Cade, Rodrick Batiste of Rayne; one brother, Calvin Minix, Sr. of Rayne; a special friend that was more of like a brother, Russell and wife, Joann Meche of Rayne; eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Mr. Minix was preceded in death by two daughters, Alison Boudreaux and Kimberly Jolivette; his parents, Valmore Minix, Sr. and Evelina B. Minix; one brother, Valmore Minix, Jr.; three sisters, Alberta Carter, Katherine Thibo and Eva Stein Yokum.
