Obituary for Jane Ora "MaMa Jane" Richard (McBride)
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Church Point for Jane “Mama Jane” Richard, 88, who passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2020 at 1:10 A.M. at Court Yard Manor in Lafayette.
Deacon Byrne Winn will be officiating for the service. Burial will be held in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church New Cemetery in Church Point.
The family has requested the visitation to be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Church Point. A Rosary will be recited at 6 o’clock in the evening on Wednesday in the Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will resume on Thursday at 8:00 A.M. until time of services.
Survivors include three daughters, Henrietta Aymond of Avoyelles Parish, Loretta R. Brown of Opelousas and Cathy Thibodeaux of Lewisburg; three sons, Joseph Jerome and wife, Sally Richard of Lewisburg, Paul Richard and Angela Marie Thibodeaux of Lawtell and John Richard of Opelousas; five grandchildren, Delia Gale Richard, Anthony Wade Aymond, Hank C. Brown, Arianna Thibodeaux, Angela Dawn Pitre, Jodie Bourque, and Brandon Michael Richard and seven great-grandchildren, Kaiden Keith Washington, Khaza Thomas, Jessie Richard, Lillian and Jasmine Barkley, Kaden Gallow and Eboney Gallow; several nieces and nephews; her Godchildren, Brandi Jane Kimble and Hunter Theriot, John Dale McBride.
Ms. Richard was a very outgoing person that enjoyed life. She enjoyed playing cards, casino, dancing, being in crowds of people. She enjoyed participating in the activities at the nursing home. She was crowned Mardi Gras Queen. She was always the life of any party.
Ms. Richard was preceded in death by her husband of sixty four years, Joseph Henry Richard; one daughter, JoAnn R. DeVillier; her parents, Zannie and Antoinette A. McBride; one sister, Mary Lou Trahan; one brother, Norwood McBride.
