Obituary for Hilda Richard (Richard)
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at 3:00 P.M. at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point for Hilda Richard, 98, who passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at 2:21 A. M. at Acadia St. Landry Guest Home in Church Point.
Fr. Patrick Broussard, Pastor of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church will be officiating for the services. Burial will be held in Bellevue Memorial Park in Bellevue.
The family of Mrs. Hilda Richard has requested that all wear a mask while in attendance of her services.
The family has requested visitation to be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. until 2:30 P.M. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Church Point. A Rosary will be recited at 2 o’clock in the Funeral Home Chapel.
Survivors include one son, John “Toot” and wife, Lurleen Richard of Church Point; two daughters, Elena Doucet of Opelousas, and Mona Barton of Lafayette; nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Richard was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Richard; one son, James “Boy” Richard; one grandson, Michael Richard; one son-in-law, Gerald Doucet; her parents, Lastie and Elena S. Richard; and she was the last survivor of sixteen siblings.
Mrs. Hilda took a lot of pride in being a home maker, wife, mother and grandmother. She was a devout Catholic, praying the Rosary in French was very important to her in her daily life. Attending Mass and mediating using her prayer books was also of great importance to her.
