A Memorial service will be held at a later date for Sostan Joseph Babineaux, Sr., who died at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2020 at his residence in Scott, LA.
Mr. Sostan was born October 4, 1928 in Rayne, LA to the late Freddie and Celina Credeur Babineaux. He was a veteran of the United States Army and proudly served his country during WWII. He always had a garden and won an award for the largest cantaloupe at 17 ½ lbs., He loved to go fishing with his son and grandchildren. He loved Cajun music and the song “Opelousas Sostan” was named after him.
He is survived by 4 daughters, Shirley Ann Babineaux Mouton and her husband, Bryan of Scott, Margaret Rushing and her husband Denny of St. Petersburg, FL, Yvonne Babineaux of Rayne, LA and Donna Blackwell of Texas; 1 son, Ralph Babineaux and his wife, Betty of lake Charles and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and Great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by wife, Elizabeth Akins Babineaux; his parents; 3 sons, Sostan J. Babineaux, Jr., James Keith Babineaux and Carl Wayne Babineaux; a daughter, Charlene Terri Babineaux; a brother, Dormis Babineaux and 2 sisters, Lula Mae Higginbotham and Ludie Babineaux.
