Obituary for Brenda Carol Hayes (King)
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel of Crowley for Brenda King Hayes, 71, who died at 2:28 p.m. Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Heart Hospital of Lafayette.
Pastor Loyd Singley of Northside Assembly of God will celebrate the funeral services. Visitation may be observed on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time. The burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Hayes was born March 9, 1950 to the late Kenneth and Dometile Leleux King. She owned and operated Hayes Body Shop along with her husband Darwin for 50 plus years. She was a longtime faithful member of Northside Assembly of God and was often called on by the church to cook for traveling evangelist. She loved her family gatherings and cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.
Brenda is survived by her husband of 52 years, Darwin Hayes of Crowley; 2 daughters, Stacie Cormier and her husband Mike of Rayne and Sheila Hendricks and her husband Rick of Moss Bluff; 1 son, David Hayes and his wife Amber of Crowley; 3 brothers, Kenneth Leroy King of Crowley, Vernon Clovis King of Lake Charles and James Richard King of Sulphur; 7 grandchildren, Ashley Cormier and her fiancé Jared Dartez, Michael Cormier, Jr, Ashley Pearson and her husband Gary, Garret Doty, Zachary Hendricks, Thomas and Bella Hayes; 7 great-grandchildren, MiKaylah Cormier, Michael Cormier, III, DemiRae Cormier, Gemma Pearson, Rhyder Buford, Bowen Buford and Cullen Pearson.
