Obituary for Edna Elizabeth de la Houssaye (Williams)

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel for Edna Williams de la Houssaye, 67, who died at 11:27 a.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2021 in Lafayette, LA.

Rev. Peter Gaughan, Pastor of First Methodist Church will conduct the funeral service and the burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation may be observed on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Edna was born December 6, 1954 to the late Lloyd Williams and Jane T. Omohundro in Crowley, LA. She was a 1971 graduate of Crowley High School. She graduated from LSU and obtained her masters degree from The University of Southwest Louisiana. Edna was a mentor and special education teacher for over 20 years, and she also ran a small home-school in Crowley. She was a passionate educator and loved her students like family. She is remembered for her love of travel and knowledge of history. She was married for 40 years to her lifelong best friend and fishing partner. Her son, daughter, husband and pets brought tremendous joy to her life.

She is survived by her husband Marque de la Houssaye; daughter Genny de la Houssaye; son Gus de la Houssaye all of Crowley, LA; her brother Wayne E. Williams of Crowley; step-daughter Vicki de la Houssaye Gardiner and her husband, David and 4 children of Georgetown, TX and a nephew Robbie Sauer and his wife Antonia and their 4 children of Lafayette.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather Jack H. Omohundro and a sister Margaret Jane Sauer.
