Obituary for Joseph Picard

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 7, 2021 at the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel of Rayne, LA for Joseph Picard, 90, who died at 7:23 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2021 in Lafayette, LA.
Deacon Denis Lacroix will conduct the funeral services and the burial will follow in the Saint Joseph Cemetery. Visitation may be observed on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and Monday from 8:00 a.m. until service time. Deacon Barry LeBlanc will lead the Rosary at 6:00 p.m. Sunday.
Joseph was born May 26, 1931 in Church Point, LA to the late Francois and Olivin Daigle Picard. He was a very hard worker having worked most of his life in the oil field. He was a very good father and grandfather. He loved to dove hunt, dance and spend time with his family.
He is survived by 2 sons, Carol Picard and his wife Ruth of Church Point and Gerald Bernard and his wife Marian of Lafayette; 2 daughters, Dianne Bernard and her husband Ronnie Desormeaux of Rayne and Carolyn Hyatt of Vinton; 17 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Faul Picard, 1 son, Patrick Bernard; 1 brother Leo Picard and 3 grandchildren, Chris Bernard, Sherrie Desormeaux and Scotty Desormeaux.
Pallbearers will be Shannon Desormeaux, Gavin Desormeaux, Sean Bernard, Evan Picard, Terry Martin and Donyel Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be Carol picard and Tromie Francis.
The family would like to give special thanks to Sonya Alleman for her sweetest of care and Gavin Desormeaux who was his “little Boy” and all who truly loved him.
