Obituary for Kenneth "Smiley" Ponthier Sr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point for Kenneth Ponthier, Sr., 66, who passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 6:13 P.M. at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette.
Père David Rozas, Parochial Vicar of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point will be officiating for the services. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.
The family has requested the visitation to be held on Friday, May 13, 2022 at 9:30 A.M. until time of services on Saturday. A Rosary will be recited on Friday at 6 o’clock in the evening in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Church Point.
Survivors include his wife of forty eight years, Debbie C. Ponthier of Swords; four sons, Anthony “Picon” Ponthier and Tara Zaunbrecher of Ville Platte, Kenneth “Kenny” Ponthier, Jr. and Roleisha of Opelousas, Clint and Tessera Ponthier of Swords, Quinton “Lou” Ponthier of Swords; one daughter, Michelene “Lene” Ponthier Mire and David “Brother” Breaux of Swords; two sisters, Vanessa Ponthier and Gail Courville both of Eunice; twenty grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Mr. Ponthier was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Harley Mire; his parents, Anthony Ray and Gladys S. Ponthier; two brothers, Michael Anthony Ponthier and Bobby Gene Ponthier; one sister, Kathleen Lyons.
Pallbearers for the service will be Picon, Kenny, Clint, Lou Ponthier, Brother and Bubba.
