Obituary for Laverne Ray D'Heilly
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church for Laverne Ray D’Heilly, Sr., 78, who died at 8:25 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2022 at his home in Church Point.
Fr. Brian Harrington, Pastor of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church will celebrate the Mass and the Burial will follow in the OLSH Mausoleum. Visitation may be observed on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until service time. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday.
Mr. D’Heilly was born April 1, 1944 in Cavalier North Dakota. He was a veteran of the United States Marines and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He and his family owned and operated D’Heilly and Son’s Rides for 40 plus years. He enjoyed working on his antique cars. He loved spending his time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ruth D’Heilly of Church Point; 1 daughter, Sylvia D’Heilly and her husband Mark Venable of Church Point; 3 sons, Lawrence D’Heilly and his companion April Leblanc of Church Point, Laverne D’Heilly, Jr. and his wife Mesha of Sunset and Sidney Hough and his wife Stephanie of Church Point; 8 grandchildren, Lawren D’Heilly, Dylin D’Heilly, Seth D’Heilly, Caleb D’Heilly, Sydney Ruth Hough, Chance D’Heilly, Sage D’Heilly, Alanya Bertrand and 6 great grandchildren, Asa George, Kingsley Logan, Kainyn Logan, Isabella D’Heilly, Sylar D’Heilly and Jonah Ray Jones, and two sisters, Paula Zobel of Morgan City and Frances D'Heilly of Rayne.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Vernell Robertson D’Heilly; 3 brothers, Gene, David and Billy Jack D’Heilly and a grandson Christian D’Heilly.
