A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 9, 2022 at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Mire, LA for Janelle Leger Gonzales, 76, who died at 12:23 p.m. Monday, September 5, 2022 in Alexandria, LA.
MSGR. Russell Harrington will celebrate the Funeral Mass and the burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Visitation may be observed on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The Rosary will be prayed at 11:00 a.m.
Mrs. Gonzales was born December 5, 1945 in Church Point,. LA to Alphan Huckaby and Helen Duplechain. She was a Pre-School teacher for many years. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and loved spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Alecia Kay Leger and her companion, Willis James Lege, Jr. of Rayne, Angela Kate Billings and her husband Aaron of Crowley and Hannah Kim Daigrepont and her husband Chester of Marksville; 2 sons, Felix Kurt Leger and his wife, Greda of Duson and Austin Kent Leger of Mire; 1 sister, Eloise Manuel of Texas; 16 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her 1st husband, Austin Leger; 2nd husband, A.J. Gonzales; 2 brothers, Alphan and Wilton Huckaby and 2 sisters, Genevieve Breaux and Beverly Huckaby.
