Obituary for Elina Marie Melancon
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at 1:30 P.M. at The Assumption Catholic Church in Mire for Elina M. Melancon, 84, who passed away on Monday, September 12, 2022 at 3:08 A.M. at Acadia General Hospital in Crowley.
Msgr. Russell Harrington, Pastor of The Assumption Catholic Church in Mire will be officiating for the services. Burial will be held in The Assumption Catholic Church Cemetery.
The family has requested the visitation to be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Rayne. A Rosary will be recited on Tuesday at 6 o’clock in the evening in the Funeral Home Chapel in Rayne. Visitation will resume on Wednesday at 8:00 A.M. until time of services.
Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis and husband, Gene Daigle of Mire, Nona Lyons of Breaux Bridge; one son, Kurt and wife, Carleen Melancon of Mire; three sisters, Mary Hoob of Houma, Geneva Bernard of Bayou Vista, Vicky Granier and husband, Remie of Southaven, MS; one brother, Rodney Matte of Patterson; six grandchildren, Jared Daigle, Haley Hernandez, Derek, Tyler and Austin Melancon, and Amanda Rawlins; fifteen great-grandchildren.
Ms. Melancon was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Melancon; one granddaughter, Tonya Grossie; her parents, Leonce and Eldine R. Matte; and one brother, Peter Matte.
