Obituary for Barbara Mire Fontenot
A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel of Crowley for Barbara Mire Fontenot, 71, who died at 11:54 a.m. Sunday, November 28, 2022 in Rayne, LA.
Pastor Robert Kratzer, pastor of Living Word Assembly of God in Jennings will celebrate the memorial services. Visitation may be observed on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
Barbara Fontenot was born on November 9, 1951 to Theodore and Jeannie Lucille Mire of Crowley. She will be greatly missed, but remembered fondly for her kindness and tender spirit. Her most treasured times were spent with her three grandchildren, her only daughter and her beloved son-in-law. She fought a long hard battle in her body for many years. This left people amazed when she would say, “I’m fine because I know there is someone else dealing with far worse.”
Regardless of her condition, she promised and dedicated her life to the Lord, greatly anticipating the day she would see Him face to face, receive her new body, and once again be with the love of her life, Jimmy Fontenot.
She received her reward Sunday morning surrounded by her daughter and son-in-law. This brings our family a peace that surpasses all understanding that only comes from our faith and the promise of eternity.
Survivors include her daughter, Pamela F. Magnon and her husband Terry of Crowley; 2 brothers, Calvin Mire of Lafayette and Leonard Mire and his wife Marceta of Crowley; 3 grandchildren, Cassidy Magnon, Adam Magnon and Aaron Magnon and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jimmy C. Fontenot and a brother, Kenneth Mire.
