Obituary for Rose Mary Simon Abshire
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Saint John the Baptist Catholic church for Rose Mary Simon Abshire, 76, who died peacefully at her home Tuesday, January 10, 2022 surrounded by her family.
Fr. Arockia Doss will celebrate the Mass and the burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Visitation may be observed on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and will continue Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. The Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday.
Mrs. Abshire was born July 4, 1946 in Rayne, LA to Remy and Nola Richard Simon. She worked most of her life as a caregiver to the sick and elderly. She was a loving mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her little dog, Baby Girl.
She is survived by her 2 daughters, Elizabeth Hebert of Morse and Debra Touchet and Savie Touchet of Morse; 1 son Anthony Abshire and his wife Miranda of Crowley; 2 brothers, Jessie Simon, and Clovis Simon both of Rayne; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Caster Abshire and her brother, Louis George Richard.
