A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, January 20, 2023 at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Clarence Leger, Sr., 79, who died at 4:23 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2023 in Lafayette, LA.
Rev. Pius T. Ajiki and Rev. Emmanuel Awe, SSJ. Will celebrate the Mass and the burial will follow in the Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Cemetery II in Church Point. Visitation will be held at the Duhon Funeral Home on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
Mr. Leger was born July 25, 1943 in Church Point, LA to Gilbert and Mary Ann Leger. He worked for BFI for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Orelia Wilridge Leger; his daughter, Aurelia Leger Brown and her husband Timothy of Midway, GA; 4 sons, Clarence Leger, Jr. and his wife, Paula of Rayne, Dennis Leger, Sr. and his wife, Kerri of Scott, John Q. Leger, Sr. and his wife, Vicky of Church Point and Tony Leger, Sr. and his wife Terese of Cankton; 2 sisters, Mary Ann Dantley of Lake Charles and Georgianna L. Wilson of Ville Platte; 1 brother, Lurlin Leger, Sr. of Lake Charles, 15 grandchildren and a host of loving great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 grandchildren, Desmond Leger and Tyler Compton; 1 great grandson, Arold Washington, III; one daughter-in-law, Oradell Leger; 3 brothers, Wilfred Leger, Eugene Leger and Gilbert Leger and 3 sisters, Wilda Citizen, Gracie Mae Garrick and Mary Evelyn Carrier.
