Jerome “Romie or Romeo” Rochon passed away on Feb 22, 2023 at the age of 78, in Houston, Texas. His recent battle with a serious medical issue showed his courage in facing life challenges with a strong mind, an open heart and his eyes steadfast on his family. Despite the pain of this loss, Jerome came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.
Jerome met his wife; Merina Gail Rochon in 1978 while working together. He is survived by their 3 children: Je’ Ron, Shaun and Shea Rochon. Jerome also had 2 grandchildren he doted on: Kaiser and Beaux Thaler. He loved those 2 boys and would spend every moment he could with them. They brought a new sense of purpose and happiness to his life.
Jerome was born on August 8th, 1944, the son of Mary and Lawrence Rochon. He had a large family consisting of Theodore, Shelton, Hilda, Audrey, Lloyd, Victoria, Claudette, Claude, Theresa, Freddie, Felton, Diane, Jeanne, Brigid and Ingrid Rochon. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Brothers: Theodore, Shelton and Freddie and Sisters: Audrey, Theresa, Hilda.
Jerome spent his whole life as an artist and a craftsman. He took pride in what he did but nothing brought him more joy than being with his family. He was consumed with a fierce love of family; be it immediate or extended. He centered his life around his family. It was what he talked about most, it was his purpose in life. Any chance he got, he stressed the importance of love, connectivity, patience and forgiveness when dealing with family.
Jerome will be honored in a gravesite service on March 10, 2023 at 10:00am. At the Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Cemetery. Family, friends and well-wishers are welcome and encouraged to attend.
