Obituary for Betty Olivier Lavergne
A mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mrs. Betty Olivier Lavergne on Friday, March 31, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, La. Rite of Committal will be held at Saint John Catholic Mission Cemetery in Lewisburg.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Duhon’s Funeral Home, 701 S. Broadway Street, Church Point, LA 70570. The rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Betty’s granddaughter, Brittany Lavergne Wagley. Visitation will continue Friday, March 31st from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
Betty Olivier Lavergne, a native of Church Point and longtime resident of Lewisburg, entered into eternal rest at age 89 on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 7:00AM at the Acadia St. Landry Nursing and Rehab Facility in Church Point.
Betty was employed at Ken’s Thrifty Way Pharmacy and Walmart Pharmacy in Opelousas for many years. She loved traveling and dancing to French and Cajun music with friends. She was a loving “Mema” to all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and will be greatly missed.
Her memory will live on in her three children, sons Richard Lavergne (Veda) of Franklin, LA and Jamie Lavergne (Tammy) of Opelousas, LA, and daughter Sara Anne McIntire (Roger) of Helena, Montana. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Christopher Abbott (Lillian), Tomika Lane (Jamie Brackett), Joseph Lavergne, Brittany Lavergne Wagley, (Andrew), Dylan Lavergne, Arin Williams, Lauren Williams, Amber Arthur (Jake), and Samantha Phillips (Tyler) and ten great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sister, Lee Etta Thibodeaux of Church Point, LA.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Raphael J. Lavergne, her parents, Dewey and Hilda Olivier, sister Eldine Vanicor and brother, Leroy Olivier.
