Obituary for Wilfred James Gaspard
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 20, 2023 at the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel of Rayne for Wilfred James Gaspard, 86, who died at 10:00 P.M. Monday, April 17, 2023 in Lafayette.
Deacon Byrne Wynn will celebrate the services and the burial will follow in the Saint’s Peter and Paul Cemetery in Scott, LA. Visitation may be observed on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until service time.
Mr. Gaspard was born December 9, 1936 in Maurice, LA to Paul and Ednes Hebert Gaspard. He was a veteran of the US Army and proudly served his country. He played Cajun and Country music for many years. He loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed making people laugh.
He is survived by his daughter, Tina Dubois and her husband, Todd of Scott; son, Blaine Gaspard of Lafayette; 3 sisters, Velma Dubois, Laura Goodwin and Brenda Primeaux; 1 brother, Daniel Gaspard; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alma Jane Gaspard; 2 sons, Vernon and Troy Gaspard: 6 sisters, Wilda Baynard, Hilda Trahan, Nell thibodeaux, Margaret Melancon, Mildred Gaspard and Paulette Gaspard; 1 brother, Alvin Gaspard and a grandson, Quintin Gaspard.
