Obituary for Mary Batiste Duplechain

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Mrs. Mary “Miss Tee” Batiste Duplechain, 86, who passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2023.

Rev. Pius T. Ajiki, Pastor of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, Church Point, will be officiating the funeral service. Burial will be held in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Highway 35, Church Point, LA.

The visitation will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023, from 8:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Church Point.

Survivors include her husband, Wallace “Mr. Boo” Duplechain; three daughters, Christine Meche (Elroy) of Church Point, LA, Dorothy Chavis (Jerome) of Church Point, LA, Bernita “Kayse” Small (George) of Haymarket, VA; two sons, Darrell Joseph Duplechain (Yvette) of Church Point, LA, Willary “Ray” Duplechain (Nichole) of Church Point, LA; two sisters, Gladys Carriere and Margaret LaDay; one brother-in-law Raymond Duplechain (Julia) of Opelousas, LA; 18 grandchildren, Jason Meche; Kierston Kelly and Gavin Duplechain; Denetra Calais, Steffon and Cody Duplechain, and Summer Norris; Kimberly J. Duplechain; Amber, Baruch, Ishmael, Robbie, and Solange Gazawi; Brooke Duplechain, Carlos Landry, Tamarcus Chachere, Willary Vonterriss and Quaderriss “Q” Duplechain; 20 great-grandchildren, Ariana, Cullen, Blaise, Ellena, Olivia, Aiden, Ja’Kyron, Davon, Travon, Aniree, Kinsley, Rontrae, Elizabeth, Shayley, Steffon, Jr., Amerion, Keonna, Sebastion, Galvin, Sevvyn, Dayonna, and a host of nieces, nephews, Godchildren, and friends.

Mary Duplechain was preceded in death by her beloved parents Elton and Clementine Batiste; her father-in-law and mother-in-law Joseph and Josephine Duplechain; her three sisters Enola Johnson, Lucy Duplechain, Marjorie Carriere; two brothers Elton Batiste, Jr. and Joseph Lee Batiste; two sons, John Duplechain and Joseph Wallace Duplechain; grandson Byron Meche; great granddaughter Aariya Diamond Duplechain; and her Godchild Tammy Duplechain Smith; brothers-in-law, Lloyd, Joseph Butler, John, Frank, Lawrence, Floyd and Percy Duplechain; sisters-in-law Clovis Duplechain, Flora Belle Guilbeaux (Wilson), and Audrey Willis (Isaac).
