Melinda D. Arabie, is a second generation funeral director born in DeRidder Louisiana to Ray and Joyce Duhon, both Louisiana Licensed Funeral Directors. Melinda is a 1984 graduate of Church Point High School, attended U.S.L. (now U.L at Lafayette). She then graduated from University of Phoenix with a degree in Accounting.
Melinda started her employment at Farmers State Bank and Trust Co. where she served the community of Church Point with their financing needs.
In 1992 Melinda joined the Duhon Family Business, beginning her career in the funeral industry.
In June 2008 she began her funeral director internship under the supervision of her mother, completing her exam with the Louisiana State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors to become a licensed funeral director in July 2009.
Service in the work sector not being the only expression of her desire to help others, she is also a member of St. Edward Catholic Church in Richard serving as a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the finance committee. Melinda is a past member of Our Mother of Peace Elementary School Board, having served two consecutive terms. She also served four years as President of the Our Mother of Peace Elementary Parent Support Club.
Melinda is married to Church Point native, Randall Arabie and they are the parents of three children, Adrienne, Dustin, and Shawn as well as proud grandparents of two grandsons Jayden and Corbin.
Melinda’s business training and public service experience combine to provide her with the basics needed to run a business. These basics, coupled with the passion of faith and parenthood, as well as the moral character instilled by her parents, create in Melinda the traits necessary for the demanding, yet compassionate calling of funeral service.
For recreation Melinda enjoys traveling, spending time with her family and friends, and supporting her children and grandchildren in school and sporting events.

Eddie is a native of Abbeville, LA where he attended Eaton Park Elementary School, Abbeville Junior High School and moved to Lafayette, LA in 1965; he then enrolled in W.A. LeRosen Elementary School for completion of his eighth grade year and went on to Northside High School with his classmates, graduating with the Class of 1970. After high school Eddie served four years of active duty with the U.S. Marine Corps from August 1970 until August 1974. After completing his military active duty obligation Eddie and his family moved back home to Lafayette, LA where he worked about three years in the retail business and was fortunate enough to be hired by Texaco Exploration and Production as a Roustabout in 1977, working out of their New Iberia office. In 1982 Eddie transferred to the Offshore Division of TE&P and spent the next 20 years as a Production Operator producing oil and gas in the Gulf of Mexico Operations group.
In August 2002 after 25 years of service Eddie seized an opportunity for early retirement from Chevron/Texaco and moved to Houston, Texas to attend Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service. While a student at Commonwealth Eddie served as a member of the Student Council, Vice President and President of the Mortuary Science Club as well as serving as a Student Ambassador for the school, volunteering for tour guidance for potential students and their families as well as giving greeting messages to new students at orientation when new classes began their attendance at Commonwealth. He worked part time as a student for Pat H. Foley Funeral Directors in Houston, TX; is a member of the National Funeral Service Honor Society and was awarded the Funeral Director’s Award for his class at graduation (Spring 2004) by the faculty of Commonwealth and also earned an Associate’s Degree in Applied Sciences with Honors and Distinction.
Eddie began his internship with David Funeral Homes in May of 2004 and has been a licensed funeral director/embalmer since June of 2005. Eddie has also served families at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home of Lafayette and Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette before returning to the David Employee Family in May 2010 until Jan 2014. January 2014 Eddie came to Duhon Funeral Home bringing his experience and compassion to assist Duhon Funeral Homes and the families coming to Duhon Funeral Home in their time of need.
The father of two sons, David K. Derouen, Sr. of Denver, CO and Jason Derouen of Lafayette, LA and three grandchildren, Amber Derouen and David K. Derouen, Jr. both of Denver, CO and Autumn Derouen of Meaux, LA, Eddie enjoys keeping up with current events and visiting with family and friends. Outgoing and compassionate by nature, he is thankful for the opportunity he was blessed with to be able serve the people he lives and works with in this wonderful area of the world we live in and will do so for a long as he is capable
