Jammie Wayne ""Big Deg"" Degeyter
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Rayne, La. for Jammie “Big Deg” Degeyter, 43, who passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 9:42 A.M. at St. Martin Hospital in Breaux Bridge, La.
Pastor Berl Adams, Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Church Point will be officiating for the services. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery in Cecilia.
The family has requested the visitation to be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 9:30 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. in the Funeral Home Chapel in Rayne. A Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, at 6:30 in the evening in the Funeral Home Chapel in Rayne. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 8:00 A.M. until time of services.
Jammie was a lifelong resident of Cecilia. He was a Motorcycle Mechanic and Avid Biker. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, riding Motorcycles, cooking, fishing, and camping. He will be missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his loving wife of nine years, April Menard Degeyter of Cecilia; one daughter, Jade Degeyter of Cecilia; two sons, Mason Winn of Cecilia and Bryce Arabie of Branch; his mother, Dolores Deshotels Trahan and her husband, Carroll of Cecilia; his father, Wayne Degeyter and his wife, Janelle of Lafayette; three sisters, Monica Degeyter of Lafayette, Nickie Degeyter Baudoin and husband, Taylor of Lafayette and Christie Degeyter Leger and husband, Roger of Lafayette; his paternal grandmother, Alice Degeyter of Lafayette; his mother-in-law, Susan Menard of Branch and Granny, Barbara Girard of Branch.
Pallbearers for the service will be, Lance Menard, Carroll Trahan, Dusty Trahan, Jimmy “Jay” Menard, Jr., Ted Richard and Dale “D.J.” Therior, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers for the service will be Bryce Arabie, Mason Winn, Jade Degeyter, Brandon Degeyter, Louis Hollier and Dale Theriot.
Jammie was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Degeyter; his maternal grandparents, Rose and John Allen Deshotels; his paternal grandfather, Rodney ‘Poppit” Degeyter; one uncle, Greg Deshotels and one nephew, Devon Leger.
The Family would like to thank St. Martin Sheriffs for their help along with Acadiana Ambulance, Air Med and all the staff at St. Martin Hospital. In Lieu of flowers family has requested monetary donations be made.
