A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Rayne for Ronald Lee “Ron” Lavern, 64, who passed away surrounded by his children on Monday, August 12, 2019 at 8:44 P.M. at the University Hospital and Clinics in Lafayette.
Pastor Berl Adams, Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Church Point will be officiant for the services. Interment will be held in the Indian Bayou Methodist Cemetery in Indian Bayou.
The family has requested the visitation be held on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. until time of services at the Funeral Home Chapel in Rayne.
Ron is survived by one son, Brent L. and wife, Mindy Lavern of Rayne; two daughters, Tara and husband, Stephen Yergeau of Lafayette and Leah and husband, Matthew Case of Lafayette; one sister, Beverly Lavern and husband, Kevin Stogner of Seabrook, TX; and five grandchildren, Strider, Colton, Alexander, Dianna and Sullivan.
Ron was a character that never met a person he didn’t know. He radiated a joy for life and living that he passed down to each of his children. He enjoyed working with his hands that was evident through his hobbies of woodworking, fishing, and playing the guitar. When he wasn’t busy entertaining friends and family, he made a living working as a consultant in the oilfield for over 40 years and working a few business ventures - Ron’s Car Care and Frog Capital Speedway. Ron also enjoyed weekends spent watching his favorite sports teams – UL’s Ragin’ Cajuns and the Saints, and, of course, NASCAR races. Every minute spent with Ron was truly an unforgettable experience. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Pallbearers for the service will be Kevin Stogner, Stephen Yergeau, Matthew Case, Michael Thibodeaux, Dan Raggette and Ted Brown.
Mr. Lavern was preceded in death by his parents, John and Evelyn H. Lavern and one nephew, Jeffery Leger.
The Lavern family would like to thank the ICU at University Hospital & Clinics for their exceptional care and devotion.

I am so sorry for the family's loss. I don't think Ron ever met a stranger. He always had a big smile on his face and love to chit chat. He will be sadly missed.

My wife and I are so sorry for your loss. Ron was a great friend and I have plenty of great memories with him when we were in High School and the next 5 years after. We always ran across each other int he Oil Patch especially when he was with Halliburton. We will definitely miss Ron.
