Berl Adams was born in Indiana on April 13, 1961, and graduated from South Knox High School in 1979. Immediately after graduation Berl, entered the United States Navy, having already enlisted during high school. While in the Navy two lifelong changes took place which tempered all future endeavors. First, Berl followed faith and committed to a life in the service of God; he also married his life partner; Diane Morter. This began a dual path of service and support of family which charted the diverse experience, education, and service profile he now possesses.
The path of religious service has led to living in the diverse cultures of Virginia, South Carolina, Tennessee, and now Louisiana. The path of religious service also allowed diverse experience, service, and education. Berl attended Tabernacle Bible College, and served through the church in nursing and retirement homes, military service centers, radio ministries, as Sunday School teacher and superintendent, supply pastor, and fill-in preacher in multiple churches, and since Dec. 2001, Pastor of The First Baptist Church in Church Point, La.
The path of family support has provided such experience and education as being employed in the US Navy, trailer mechanic and assistant manager of the tire department of Spartan Express Trucking, warehouse manager at White Tire, production line worker at Modine Manufacturing, warehouse manager and then Vice President of Operations for Fasser Inc.
Currently while serving as pastor of the First Baptist Church in Church Point, Berl also serves as an Assistant Fire Chief, Medical First Responder, and Chaplain with the Church Point Volunteer Fire Dept.
Berl w/ wife Diane, has four grown children: Rebecca, Daniel w/ wife Alena, and grandson Brandon, Stephen w/wife Megan, Grandson Joshua and granddaughter Jericho, David w/ wife Samantha and granddaughter Sabrina. As with Berl, all three sons are also firemen.
With the diversity in experience in the secular world, and the commitment to service with people and family values, both secular and religious, Berl’s current position at Duhon Funeral Home LLC is in many ways a composite blend and extension of the life path Berl had already chosen.
For recreation Berl enjoys reading, researching, gardening, raising roses, and wood and metal projects.
